GREELEY, Colo. – The field is now set for the Professional Women’s Bowling Association Northern Colorado Open after Thursday’s pre-tournament qualifier at Highland Park Lanes in Greeley, Colorado.
Ten bowlers advanced from the PTQ into the main field after a six-game block, which was led by Japan’s Manon Ishida with a 1,393 total in her first season on the PWBA Tour.
“It’s my first time out here, so I’m very nervous,” Ishida said after leading the PTQ. “There are so many good bowlers and big names, so I’m a little nervous, but it’s exciting.”
Joining Ishida in advancing to the main field were Malaysia’s Syazwani Sahar (1,385); Brooke Roberts of Port Orange, Florida (1,302); Japan’s Chika Terashita (1,280); Adrienne Hare of Rio Rancho, New Mexico (1,254); Mia Stolakis of Worcester, Massachusetts (1,236); Aileen Linares of Rio Rancho, New Mexico (1,231); Emily Eckhoff of Wheat Ridge, Colorado (1,221); Fania Cobo of Puerto Rico (1,218); and Malaysia’s Faten Faik (1,214).
Ishida also noted one of the biggest adjustments in competing on the PWBA Tour compared to the Japan Professional Bowling Association.
“The lane conditions are tough, tougher than JPBA,” she noted. Ishida also advanced into the main field last week at the PWBA Bowlers Journal Rockford Open, finishing 48th out of 75 bowlers.
All competitors in the main field will return Friday for the beginning of qualifying with two six-game blocks at noon Eastern and 7 p.m. Eastern.
The top third of the field will advance to a third six-game qualifying block Saturday at 11 a.m. Eastern. Only 12 will continue to the final qualifying block later at 4 p.m. Eastern, where a final cut is made to the top five for the stepladder finals at 8:30 p.m. Eastern. Qualifying and the stepladder finals will be streamed live on BowlTV.
